VOTE 1 FOR AMBER KEARNS

Hi, I’m Amber!

I believe leadership is about showing up, listening and acting with integrity. That’s how I’ve lived my life, and it’s how I will continue to lead.

Mandurah has been my home since I was 13. I’ve lived, worked, and with my husband we have raised our three teenagers here. For more than 30 years I’ve been proud to serve the community I love. Whether it’s through volunteering, business, council or simply showing up where I’m needed, I’m all in.

My husband and I have owned a local business here in Mandurah for over 20 years, so I understand both the pressures and opportunities that come with running a business in our city. A strong local economy means more than just jobs. It means a community that feels supported, connected and proud.

To truly represent a community, you need to be part of it, and I am. I spend my days alongside people of all ages and backgrounds, supporting local causes and listening to what matters. I completed the Diploma in Local Government, the highest local government accreditation available, because I wanted to be fully equipped to serve our community well.

A Plan of Action for Mandurah

For me, a strong and connected Mandurah isn’t just a goal—it’s a shared vision. My
priorities are centered around what our community needs to thrive.

Prepared to Lead.
Grounded in Experience.

I’m putting my hand up for Mayor because I care deeply about our community – every voice, every neighbourhood, every challenge and opportunity. I want to ensure Mandurah continues to grow in a way that stays true to who we are: a city with a village heart, where people feel seen, heard and supported.

Leadership in local government is about more than making statements — it is about doing the work, understanding the system, and staying connected to the people it affects.

Deep Community Experience
For years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on a wide range of local boards and committees, giving me real insight into both the challenges and opportunities facing our city. These roles have included:
Formal Qualifications
I’ve completed the Diploma in Local Government, the highest level of formal training available to elected members. I believe it’s crucial to not just be passionate about change, but also equipped to deliver it.
A Proven Leader
I understand how council works, where it needs to work better, and how to navigate policy and budgets. I’m not learning on the run – I’m ready to lead.

If elected Mayor, I will bring with me the relationships, knowledge and experience built across these roles:

Council Roles & Committees

  • City of Mandurah Councillor, East Ward
  • Access & Inclusion Advisory Committee
  • Audit & Risk Committee
  • Planning & Community Consultation Committee
  • Local Emergency Management Committee
  • WALGA Zone Delegate

Community Boards I Serve, or Have Served, On

  • WestAus Crisis & Welfare Services
  • Peel Community Kitchen
  • Bridge Builders Inc.
  • Greenfields Primary School Board
  • John Tonkin College Board
  • South Halls Head Primary School Board
  • Allambee Counselling

This mix of experience — in governance, finance, advocacy and care — has prepared me to lead with both strategy and heart. I know the city. I know the system. And I know the people who make Mandurah what it is.

I would be honoured to lead our city forward, with steady hands and a listening heart.

“I’m running for Mayor because this is my home – I know what this city is capable of, and I know we can do better together. I bring experience, heart, strategic vision and the ability to deliver. I’ve never waited for a title to lead; I’ve simply led where I stood.”
